Hello Alta Loma Elementary Families,
We were very excited about getting all our amazing students back on campus! I know that summer flies by, and it is always a little challenging to start back up, but we will do what we do best and rely on each other to get back into the swing of things.
As we have been preparing all that it takes to start a new school year, I could not help but become overjoyed with a sense of pride in returning as your elementary principal at Alta Loma Elementary School. The honor of running our school and building the connections it takes to serve our community is not a responsibility that I take lightly. I will continue to do my very best for you and your students and work diligently to assure that our students become respectful, responsible, self-sufficient citizens that develop an increased desire to learn.
As you may have heard, Alta Loma Elementary has had a couple of staff changes this year. First off, we would like to thank Tara Carpenter for stepping into her new role as a third-grade teacher here at the school. For those that do not know Mrs. Carpenter, she has been teaching sixth-grade at ALE for the last five years. We are very excited that Mrs. Collins returned to Alta Loma Elementary as our part-time assistant principal. She has done a great job at establishing relationships with students and staff and has supported the school in just about every aspect possible. Finally, these are exciting times as we have welcomed a brand-new position here at ALE. Sarah Perri has joined our family this year as ALE’s full-time counselor. Mrs. Perri comes to us with a wealth of experience in supporting students’ social-emotional growth and creating programs and lessons within the realm of public education.
During the 2023/2024 school year, we are going to be placing more emphasis on supporting students at all levels in academics, social-emotional learning, and behavior. As we move forward with the year, students may see an increase in campus supervision, social-emotional lessons in and outside the classroom, academic discourse, extra recess activities, and when possible, an increase in after-school and community activities.
We will also be working to find new and fun ways to celebrate the students’ accomplishments this year. Students will have the opportunity to celebrate their perfect attendance (this includes tardies) every two weeks by spinning our amazing wheel of prizes at lunchtime. They will also be able to earn rewards by having good manners and showing respectful behavior at the lunch tables. Students have the chance to celebrate their near-perfect attendance and good behavior each trimester as we level up our Principal Prize celebrations. So, please keep an eye and ear out for more details on these and many other exciting ideas that we have in store for the year. It is also very important to help your students get here on time and encourage them to treat everyone with respect. We encourage our students to rely on our staff as a resource to solve problems. We are here to support them.
Thank you all for last year's support and all the support to come. By working together, we can further ensure success for each student at ALE. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will do whatever I can to support you and your students. Take care and see you all soon.
Sincerely,
Joshua Jauss
