Dear Alta Loma Junior High Families,
It is hard to believe that we are moving into the 2nd trimester of school. November and December are busy months not only at home but at school as well. Students finished the first trimester with interim assessments that mirror the state assessment and completed final projects to end successfully. We are confident that teachers are working diligently to best prepare our students for the Smarter Balanced assessments that they will take in early April. Teachers have taken time to attend several staff development opportunities focused on effective strategies designed to meet the needs of today’s students. Student report cards will be sent home with students on Friday, November 2nd. The start of the winter trimester is a perfect time to remind students that each trimester is a brand new beginning and an opportunity to be achieving their personal best.
Please remember to mark your calendars. Once again, the ASB and Crew for Christ will be organizing Project Basket in an effort to support the needs of our local community. This year, we are working to collect donations of cash and gift cards from local grocery stores to give to families. If you are interested in giving, you can send it with your student or drop it off in the front office. We will be collecting donated items from October 22nd – November 9th. We will celebrate Veterans Day with an assembly on November 9th. We invite any and all veterans to join us at 8:30 a.m. as we honor those that have served or continue to serve our country. On the 12th of November there will be no school in observance of Veterans Day. Our Talent Show Assemblies will be held on November 16th. The Thanksgiving holiday will be from November 19th - 23rd. Winter break comes quickly in December beginning with a modified day on December 20th. Students will return to school on January 7th.
As we approach the holiday season, we appreciate your extra caution when dropping off or picking up your students. Please remember to follow the safety rules set in place around the school. We thank you for your continued support and wish you the best during the holiday season.
