About Us

The Deer Canyon Title 1 Learning Lab is a General Education intervention we provide to students in the areas of English Language Arts and Math.  Enrollment is based upon students' assessment data, test scores, and teachers' recommendations.  The program provided by the Learning Lab is flexible. The Learning Lab team will be providing structured support using research based materials in small group instruction. In Language Arts it provides our K-6 grade students with instruction and/or remediation in the areas of phonemic awareness, phonics, sight word/vocabulary development, comprehension, and fluency instruction. Math lessons focus on fact fluency and skills practice.  The Learning Lab bases continued support in the learning lab on ongoing assessment data, so some students may only be apart of the Learning Lab for a short time.  A session is one 8 week period. Services are provided by a team which consist of Mrs. Rice, Teaching Asst. Principal and 4 support aides Mrs. Clarke, Ms. Page, Ms. Castro, and Mrs. D’Avello
