New Director of Special Education Set to Begin in February

Longtime educator and administrator Elizabeth Freer has been named the Alta Loma School District’s director of special education, beginning Feb. 13.

She will take the reins from Lori Thompson, who was promoted to associate superintendent for education services.

Freer was director of special education in the Etiwanda School District.

“Beth will be a major addition to our district,” said ALSD Superintendent James Moore. “She is highly regarded as a leading authority in special education and brings incredible experience and expertise to our district. We are very fortunate to welcome her to the Alta Loma School District.”

Beth has served as a general education teacher, as well as a special education teacher. She has taught autism classes, and served as a Resource Specialist. Her administrative experience includes Special Education Coordinator, Special Education Principal at Gibson School for San Bernardino County Schools and most recently her role as Director of Special Education in Etiwanda.

Beth has three sons who all attended school in the Alta Loma School District. She is a long time resident of Alta Loma.
