Alta Loma School District Return to School Update - January 4, 2021

January 4, 2021

We hope you had a safe and pleasant holiday break, as we know many families made alternative holiday plans this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Unfortunately, because of the rapid increase in positive cases in our community, we had to suspend in-person instruction for our special education classes and we had to close our Child Care Program in December. Although there was no indication of COVID cases emanating from our schools, the number of employees needing to quarantine made it difficult to adequately staff our programs.

We hope to reopen these programs as soon as it is safe to do so, and we continue to have aspirations of bringing our Preppy Kindergarten, Kindergarten and First grade students back to school. However, at this time the Alta Loma COVID average daily rate has risen to 105.7 per 100,000 residents. The Governor is proposing a return plan using a measure of 28 cases per 100,000 residents, therefore at this time it is difficult for us to propose a reopening date for any in-person instruction.

Once again, we appreciate your support of our Distance Learning Program and we urge you to continue to follow all of the safety protocols to keep you and your family well. We remain committed to safely reopening our schools as soon as we are able.
