Board of Trustees Re-Elected

Oerly, Davies and Payzant Re-Elected to ALSD Board of Trustees

Alta Loma voters confirmed their trust in incumbent school board members Sandie Oerly, Rebecca Davies and Caryn Payzant, who were all convincingly re-elected last month to serve on the Alta Loma School District Board of Trustees for another four years.

“Congratulations to Sandie, Rebecca and Caryn,” said ALSD Superintendent James Moore. “We’re delighted that they will all continue in their very important roles on our school board and in directing the district to sustained growth and excellence.

“They have been remarkably instrumental in our unprecedented success, including the critical passage of Measure H in 2016,” Moore said. “We’ve also seen our test scores continue to improve and schools reach new heights over a wide variety of categories. We’re all very proud of their never-ending dedication and extraordinary leadership of the Alta Loma School District.”

An Alta Loma resident for more than 50 years, Oerly has served on the school board since 1979. She’ll celebrate her 40th anniversary as a board member next year. Her three children attended ALSD schools, and two grandchildren are currently attending schools in the district.

Oerly also serves on the boards of AYSO and Habitat for Humanity.

Davies has lived in Alta Loma for 35 years and has served on the ALSD Board of Trustees since 2002. Her children also attended ALSD schools. She and her husband Les have been married for 37 years.

In addition, Davies is a past PTA president and has served in several Alta Loma Council PTA leadership positions. She also has been a Rancho Cucamonga Library Foundation board member for 23 years, raising funds to enhance the city library’s programs, activities and services.

Payzant joined the Alta Loma School District Board of Trustees in 1993. She has lived in Alta Loma since 1987.

Payzant and her husband Kevin have been married since 1981 and their children attended ALSD schools. She served as a PTA president and held numerous other PTA positions at the school, Alta Loma Council and 5th District level.

She also represents the Alta Loma School District on the executive boards of several San Bernardino County and California educational organizations.

A social media consultant and substitute teacher in the Chaffey Joint Union High School District, Payzant is a founding member and past president of the Rancho Cucamonga Service Council.

Fellow school board members Brad Buller and Dave Roberts continue to serve their current terms through 2020.
