Parent University an Academic Roadmap for Parents is Coming Soon

Helpful advice and tools for parents, grandparents and guardians to help their students be more successful in school is the focus of this year’s annual district-wide Parent University, which will be held Thursday, Oct. 17, at Carnelian Elementary School. The event runs from 5:15-8:30 p.m.

Psychologist John Pellitteri will offer a look at the challenges and opportunities facing families and students today. Pellitteri’s keynote address will be followed by two separate breakout sessions. The topics for this year’s Parent University sessions will focus on helping your child at home to be successful in school. Sessions include supports for English language arts and mathematics classrooms, homework help, digital citizenship, thinking maps, as well as early literacy and numeracy skills.

Registration and Pizza dinner begin at 5:15 p.m. Childcare for children 3 and older will be available.

There will be a book giveaway at 8 p.m.
