Behavior Expectations
Dear Alta Loma Families,
We are excited to share with you an important part of how we support every student in the Alta Loma School District - Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). MTSS is a framework that brings together academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports so that all students have what they need to thrive. It's not a program, but rather a way of working that helps us ensure every student is given the right support at the right time.
Here's how MTSS works:
Tier 1 - Strong Core for All Students
Every student has access to high-quality instruction, positive behavior supports, and opportunities to build skills for success.
Tier 2- Targeted Support for Some Students
Students who may need additional help receive small group instruction, targeted interventions, or skill-building strategies in specific areas.
Tier 3- Intensive Support for Individual Needs
Students with more significant needs receive individualized support designed to help them succeed.
Our MTSS approach is built on the belief that every student can succeed with the right support. Teachers, support staff, and families work together using data, observations and input, to ensure interventions are timely, effective, and responsive. As part of this system, all of our schools use Positive Behavior and Supports (PBIS) as a foundation to set expectations and work with students to ensure they are safe, respectful and responsible. Additionally, we use Character Strong to build strong character, help guide students in making positive decisions and strengthen relationships among peers. As parents and guardians, you play a vital role in this process. Our schools will continue to communicate with you, share progress, and invite your feedback as we partner to further support students and strengthen our multi-tiered system of support.
Thank you for being an essential part of our school community. Together, we can ensure that every child feels supported, respected, and valued at all of our schools.
Warm regards,
Dr. Christina Pierce, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services
