Suicide Prevention

The Alta Loma School District is committed to protecting the health, safety, and well-being of every student. We recognize that mental health is an essential part of overall wellness, and we are dedicated to fostering school environments where students feel safe, supported, connected, and valued.

Suicide prevention is a shared responsibility among schools, families, and the community. The District promotes awareness, education, and early intervention by providing training for staff, implementing prevention, and response protocols, and connecting students and families with appropriate support services and community resources.

Our schools encourage students to seek help for themselves or others when they are concerned about a friend or classmate. School counselors, mental health professionals, administrators, and other trained staff are available to provide support, assess concerns, and coordinate appropriate interventions when needed.

Alta Loma School District is committed to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and creating a culture where seeking help is viewed as a sign of strength. By working together with families and community partners, we strive to ensure every student has access to the care and support they need to thrive both academically and emotionally.

If you are concerned about your child's mental health or believe they may be at risk, please contact your child's school immediately. If there is an immediate safety concern or a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Additional crisis support is available 24 hours a day through the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.
